About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Best treadmill we have ever owned!
Ordered this treadmill on line from Amazon (no sales tax & no shipping), site unseen. It arrived 10 days later by a trucking company. We were able to put it together in 20 minutes and were walking. It is used by three adults and we walk/run 7-10 miles a day total. It is very stable when walking/running, smooth walking platform, low noise so we can easily hear the stereo when walking/running. This treadmill does not come with all the extras like fan, ipod docking, or TV (which usually break and cost too much to fix). We are very happy and thank the Treadmill Sensei for making it easy for us to choose a treadmill for our needs!

Very sturdy, great machine!
I have run around 25 miles and my wife has run around 50 on this treadmill now. It is very sturdy, even at higher speeds, and has great cushioning. There are none of the fancy frills to the display that some others have, no MP3 player or speakers, but the machine feels better than any others we've tried.

My only negative so far is that the programs do not allow you to change the base speed settings. So if it's an "interval" program, you're stuck with the pre-assigned speed values for each interval, which are very slow (4 MPH or slower for most). You have to manually change them each time it goes to the next interval.

Great purchase, easy to set up
Awesome! I have a Mastiff puppy who needed walking. She now will jump on the treadmill and look at me to turn it on. I use it too. For the price range, it is smooth, well padded, noise level is reasonable so I can hear the TV while walking. All in all, this is one of my best value purchases.

Shipping Nightmare
I bought this treadmill after doing much research and reading the positive review posted on amazon for the Home Gym Central/Estes order and delivery process. The result: possibly one of the worst purchasing experiences of my life that involved twelve hours of waiting at home and multiple calls to Home Gym Central and Estes.

HomeGym Central did not respond to my email and was rude when I called to ask if Estes would be calling me to schedule delivery v. leaving it on the porch. I had to call four times and leave a message just to get someone on the phone.

Then came the Estes shipping nightmare. After a day spent panicked that a 00 item was left on my front porch, I got a call from Estes to schedule a delivery. They said the smallest time window they could give was 8-5 so I had to take an entire day off work. Later, I learned they were supposed to give me either an 8-12 or 12-5 time window.

HomeGym gave Estes the incorrect street name for my address so the driver went to the wrong house. I'm lucky that person didn't keep my delivery! The confirmation email I received from Amazon had my correct address and other items from the same order arrived with no problem. Instead of telling the driver to call me for the right address, the Estes dispatch told its driver to make his other deliveries. He was only a few streets away and my phone number was on the delivery slip. It took me three phone calls and two supervisors to sort out what happened. It also took some persuading to get my order delivered so that I would not have to skip another day of work.

Order this great treadmill from a different company. I wouldn't choose Home Gym Central if I could do it over again.

We like it.
This review is for the BodyCraft TR1120 being sold by [...] Amazon.com.

I had budgetary restraints and needed to stay below [...] but didn't want a disposable treadmill. After reading online at different exercises equipment review sites, I felt comfortable with giving the TR1120 a try. I liked that it has a good warranty, which you can find in an Internet search. I was a little concerned that nobody had reviewed this unit at Amazon, even though some have purchased it here. I took a 50/50 chance and hit the order button.

The unit shipped free and came about 10 days after I ordered it. Home Gym Central responded right away any time I emailed them about shipping questions. The treadmill came by Estes Express lines. The driver helped me bring it in the house. It was a breeze to set up. It comes all together except for a couple screws needed to hold the console up. In less than 15 minutes, I had it out of the box and was running on it. So far we have no complaints. It is very sturdy. We love the speed and incline controls on the hand grip.

Thought it might be helpful if someone took the time to review this treadmill.

Great treadmill
If you want a solid fitness treadmill without needing to pay for frills and fancies such as iPOD, TV, "flashy" readouts, this one is it.

The frame is very solid. The motor is powerful and QUIET. My wife works out in the wee hours of the morning. All I hear are her running thump, thump - not the motor. It is not the folding type, but honestly, it does not matter. This is one sturdy piece of equipment that I hope to get a decade of workout, or more.

Great Treadmill!
I purchased this treadmill for my wife after reading several positive reviews from 3rd party sites. Her hip and knee have been hurting her and she had to stop working out on our old 10 yr old 0 crappy treadmill. She wanted to workout but it just hurt too much. This treadmill is supposed to provide a high amount of cushioning that lessens the impact on joints, bones, etc.. Well, it really does! We were very surprised and pleased with how good it feels to walk or run on it. And she's been using it for several weeks now. She's experienced less pain throughout the day because she's been able to slowly build her muscles (which hold her hip in alignment).

I have always hated treadmills (because of the impact and joint discomfort it causes). But this treadmill rocks. It's very soft to run on (but not too soft). And it's made of high-quality parts that will last many years.

PROS:
- High level of cushion that really does reduce the impact of running
- Great Quality
- Great displays (shows your progress on a track and keeps count of your laps).
- Easy to put together, but is big and heavy
- Includes a wireless polar heart rate monitor that works

CONS:
- Too expensive, but I guess it's worth it if it lasts for 10 years
- The heart rate hand grips work for me (male with large hands), but do not pick up my wife's heart rate. Maybe her hands aren't sweaty enough?
- Motion sensitive speed controls are cool but not really useful because I accidentally active them. Thus, I keep them turned off.

Overall, we're very pleased and look forward to not becoming as large as cows are we get older.[...].

Smooth 9.35 HR - love the Hydra Suspension cushioning
I would like to preface my review by saying that I am in no way paid by Smooth Fitness to write this review, or have any connection or affiliation with the company.

I ordered my treadmill factory direct and it took about 2 weeks for it to come. Then it took me around 4 1/2 hours to put it together. It wasn't the directions that was hard to understand, it was just twisting in the screws and moving the treadmill around that took so long. The treadmill is extremely heavy and I put it together by myself. I do suggest you have a friend or significant other help. But since the treadmill is so heavy, it feels sturdier. After putting my treadmill together, I was excited to start using it.

I'm a 5'5" female and weigh 130 lbs, but the treadmill is a nice size and sturdy enough that I think it can easily accommodate heavier and taller runners. It says in the manual that users can be up to 350 pounds. This is definitely a good treadmill for running. If you're looking for a treadmill just for walking, you can spend around 0-00 for a fairly good treadmill. Jogging and running, expect to spend 00 and up for a quality machine.

I've only went up to 6.o mph so far, but the belt runs very smoothly. There's no odd jerking and sputtering like on cheaper treadmills where you feel like you might be fall off and break a neck. This treadmill truly does feel like a quality treadmill like those found in fitness gyms. Lately I've been too busy to go to the gym so it's super convenient to have a treadmill at home. I love the no fuss aspect. I don't have to "dress up" and can easily shower as soon as my workout is done. For days when I really don't feel like listening to music, I can just pop in a movie and still get a good workout.

Before purchasing the Smooth 9.35HR, I did my research. I read up on customer reviews and reviews made by treadmill "gurus". The treadmill doctor has given this treadmill shining reviews, giving it a #1 spot for treadmills in the 00-2000 range. In my search for the best treadmill for me, I wanted a quality machine that won't blow my budget, I wanted to be able to run comfortably on it, and most important it had to have good cushioning. A few months back I got a knee injury that now makes it difficult to run on hard surfaces or for long distances. The Smooth has this wonderful Hydra Suspension feature that allows you to adjust the cushioning level. It's easy to change for different users, depending on what you need. It works. I've used the treadmill with it "off" and it hurt my knees within 5 minutes. The next day I turned it "on" and I barely had a problem. The slight pain was most likely from the day before, but with the cushioning on, I did notice a huge difference. It was the Hydra Suspension feature that really made me go for the Smooth. I was deciding between the Sole F85 and the Smooth 9.35 HR. They were both the same price and both had raving reviews, but I chose the Smooth 9.35 HR for it's superior cushioning system. I don't know if you can say it's "whisper-quiet", but I can hear music over the motor. This might help, if you order from the website it's free shipping and free in-room delivery if you want to save a few bucks. With the purchase of my treadmill from the company, I also received 5 years parts and electronics and 2 years labor. Some treadmills only give you 1 year labor.

I give this treadmill a 4 1/2 out of 5 only because the console is in my way. Like I said, I'm 5'5", but the top part of the console comes up to my upper chest and when I'm swinging my arms during walking or jogging, my arms bump in to the console. I just wish the console was lower or could be adjusted to a different height, but no I'm stuck. So if you're tall, this would probably be best for you. If you're short, take that in to consideration. The console height is a bit of a problem, but not enough for me to want to return it. The strong motor and cool Hydra Suspension cushion far outweighs that minor problem.

The treadmill also allows you to input up to 9 user information and save it. Just input your height, weight, etc, one time and you can look up User 1, User 2, and so on the next time. I think this is really cool because the calorie burn reading is more accurate this way and being able to read how much calories I'm burning helps me keep going. There's also different programs, but I haven't tried them yet so I can't give a review about that. In addition, it comes with a Heart Rate chest strap. I use that to help me reach and stay in my Heart Rate zone so I don't work under my potential or over train.

Don't just read a few reviews and decide to buy it. Do your research. There are also sites that are paid by treadmill companies to write wonderful reviews for treadmills so don't believe everything. I haven't had a lot of experience with the Smooth's customer service, but the few times I have called they have been courteous and polite. I am pleased with my purchase and recommend it if you're willing to shell out the 00.

Smooth Fitness Treadmill Review
I research my purchases out to the point of obsession. I can tell you that you have to becareful what you read as there are "Product Reviews" out there that are put out there by the companies selling bad products. You can tell this because the reviews will show the product to be bad and excellent at the same time (depending on what you read and from who).

Do your research and weight your evaluation based on what is important to you. Read BLOGs by runners... Marathon'ers are a good source of info since running "is their life". People that have bought equipment also tend to recommend what they have bought--good or bad--they are still trying to convience themselves they made the right purchase. Also have had people giving me well-intentioned recommendations on garbage they have seen on TV from reputable companies like "The Nordic Track Tread-Walker".

I did a spreadsheet evaluation (Compartive Analysis) based on weighting the things important to me were durability, strenght of equiment (to handle heavy runners), shock absorbtion, roller diameter, incline height, stability of platform, quietness, programming features (including HR feature)... and more.

I bought this treadmill based on the fact I am a heavy runner at 250 lbs (technically I shouldn't even be running--on asphalt anyway)... the unit is built solid, has a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame and 1 yr in home service on electronics, etc. It went together well... very solid. Required two people to assemble... one to put tension on the frame so it would go together and screw holes would line up. That is good though... results in a very rigid structure.

The shock absorbtion feature... actually two automobile type shock absorbers is fantastic... I know saving my old joints on my 53 year old body from abuse. It is like running on the beach... along the edge of the surf. I can see about 1/4-1/2" of movement at each step while I run and ajustable.

It is like having a Gorilla running on a treadmill... a good wide track to handle me too... and my wife says my gait is comparable. I love this machine!! Easy to run and program too. It comes with a Polar Heart Rate transmitter strap you put around your chest and transmits to the treadmill and the treadmill is smart enought to vary the incline (up to 15 deg) and speed to keep your heart at target!! Fandamntastic!!

It is quiet too... my 18 year old athletic son runs on it and I can hear his steps downstairs (from the kitchen above) but not the machine. You can't hear the electric incline feature operate at all. The machine is just smooth as hell and the thing that talked me into it was an account by a marathoner that was looking for something that would save him on joint wear and tear he experinced running on asphalt.

Too expensive for ya you say? By a cheaper machine and you may pay more in repairs and it won't be available to you when you need it. Here is the deal on that... I paid K. If you aren't going to spend at least 00 on a treadmill don't even buy one. Treadmills need to be build very well to last even a year of abuse and I have a family of 5 running on it plus on Gorilla... ha. Just look at your local fitness center... 10 treadmills and about half of them out of commission at any time--overbuy on the treadmill folks and you won't be sorry--or buy something else.

Don't get sucked into the TV ads either for the latest gimmicks... I found out that Bowflex(tm) "Tread Climber" thing... you can't run on that AT ALL!! Plus easy to fall on and get mangled in the moving treads. Considering an Elliptical? Better try it out somewhere... they often don't follow natural body movement... you have to force your body to do something that just doesn't feel right. Running is a great thing if you can take the joint-impact-damage out of it... I think the Smooth 9.35HR does that... great buy.

Hope this leads someone out there to making a good smart purchase... my only incentive... I do not have any relationship to Smooth Fitness at all (not a Stock holder, invester, etc.) and don't sell them either.

Horizon T 90
Bought this unit in Jan 2010,after walking everyday for one and a half month at the mid-range speed,I give 4 stars rating. It is quiet and steady ,much better than my previous unit and also easy to lift the platform.
The only complaint is the installation, screws and holes in the both holding bars do not fit in since the design is unbelievable bad.The manual for using is short and does not give enough details but I don't care since I can set my own walking pattern.Lastly,it worth the money with good value. The delivery by Amazon was excellent in both timing and condition.

Pretty good home treadmill
This is a very good treadmill for home, for a good price. The electronic panel is simple and easy to use. It folds up with wheels on the bottom for moving/storing. Two of the screws on the bottom didn't line up very well, but was pretty easy to put together.

Great Treadmill
This is a nice treadmill that runs smoothly and is fairly quiet. It was also pretty easy to put together (one hour). I have been using it 5 days a week for a month now and so far, so good.

treadmill works except for incline
I like this treadmill for the most part; the belt is very functional, plus wide enough to be comfortable walking on. The display is good, plus it has a lot of "space" for things like water and phones/remotes to sit on.

The big problem I have with it, is the incline function isn't working. I've used the treadmill about a week, but have not yet contacted the manufacturer (I have been busy).

The treadmill came unassembled, but for the most part, it was not that hard to put together; I did it by myself in a few hours. I will add a minor gripe that one of the bolts doesn't seem to connect the pieces it should for the handlebar, but a second bolt is keeping it in place.

I want to add, that I only use the manual speed setting. I have not yet tried the other programs.

Rating: 4 of 5, is a fairly good estimate of it. It does work very well, but the issues I listed above prevent a perfect rating.

a satisfying buy
I've been a runner for years, but this is the first treadmill I've bought for my home and I'm very satisfied with it so far. I've been running steadily on it for a week and a half now and have had no major problems.

First, I'd like to say that I bought this treadmill directly from Amazon and I chose the free super saver shipping (cutting about a hundred dollars off my total,) so I wasn't expecting it to get to me very quickly. But the treadmill shipped out about a week earlier than its first estimated shipping date, and it actually arrived on my doorstep nearly two weeks before the projected date of arrival. I am very pleased with Amazon's service in this area! But on to the product.

I put this treadmill together myself, and I had very little trouble with it. Following the instructions carefully (especially the part that continually iterates not tightening any bolts until the entire treadmill is assembled,) I got it together pretty easily. The only problem I had was with the weight of the thing, which made getting some of the pieces to line up a little difficult, but if you get someone to give you a hand with this (or if you're fairly strong; I myself am 5'4" and 110 in my socks,) this shouldn't be a problem at all. The first time I turned it on, I had some problems with the belt shifting to one side or the other, but I followed the instructions in the manual for fixing this and it straightened right back out. The only thing the instruction booklet was lacking in was the part that explained how to lubricate under the belt when you first use the treadmill; I figured it out easily myself, but it would have been nice if the instructions in the manual went into a little more detail on just how it's done.

I was satisfied with the packaging as well; it was well padded and everything was in great condition when I opened it up. The cup holder was dented and slightly cracked when I pulled it out, but the rest of the products in the box and the box that it came in itself were completely unharmed, so I assume that the flaw occurred before packaging, and it's not a big deal. Plus, I liked that all the parts for each individual step of assembly were bagged separately and labeled, "parts for step one", "parts for step two" - very helpful for someone like me, who can't tell the difference between a screw and a screwdriver. Overall, the packaging and arrangement of all the parts were very satisfactory.

I can't say how this treadmill stacks up to the higher-range ones, not having been a big treadmill runner up until now, but for me, this treadmill is exactly what I wanted. I have been running approximately ten miles a day on it since I got it, and I haven't had a problem yet. It is a little noisy, but maybe that's because I'm more used to the silence of running outside - and it's hardly noticeable with some music on in the background or headphones in. I would definitely recommend this model if you're looking for your first treadmill.

Amazon.com Product Description:
Whether you're just starting to get in shape or are a seasoned athlete, Bowflex's TC1000 Treadclimber Cardio Machine is a home fitness machine that offers an array of electronics and features to push your workout to the next level. Similar in function to a treadmill, this low-impact machine is engineered to burn fat without pounding your joints. It has unique dual treadles (rather than a single belt area surface) that rise up to cushion each step. This design eliminates the jarring impact of hard, flat surfaces and reduces the joint and muscle strain that can be part of other workout machines.

It has twelve intensity settings to tailor your workout specifically to your fitness and comfort level while six electronic functions allow you to track your speed, time, distance, calories burned, calories per minute, and total steps taken during your workout. Three LCD readout windows allow you to see your workout time, speed, and distance easily. Large footboards alongside the tread belts make starting or stopping exercise safe and easy. The speed of the TC1000 adjusts from 0.5 to 3.8 miles per hour for a casual stroll to serious power walking.

The TC1000 allows you to track your workout time, speed, and distance while exercising.

Customer Reviews

No bang for your buck
There is way to much hype about these machines. You could get a better treadmill at walmart for 00 less! The console is below par (speed, time and distance... with no back light)and the machine is tiny. If you plan on watching TV or doing anything besides looking at your feet on this machine... you're in for a surprise!

This machine also comes in a TON of pieces!

For the same price you could get a treadmill with a bigger motor, longer running surface, MOTORIZED incline, and a built in TV (which isn't necessary... but it goes to show that bowflex spends more money on advertising then they do on their machines)
